What You Need From Your Wedding Photographers in Satellite Beach, Fl | Roberts & Warwick Photography
When it comes to choosing your wedding photographers there is so much more than just “can they get the job done.” Yes, it is important to know if they can, in fact, get the job done with the proper equipment, guidance, etc. BUT, that shouldn't be what you put the most emphasis on. In this blog you will see exactly what you need to consider when searching for your wedding photographers, why it’s important, and why it will absolutely make your experience on the sands of Satellite Beach, Fl everything it can and should be.
Firstly, and arguably the most important, is this wedding photographer a person you want by your side all day on your wedding day?
Think about it… it’s not JUST about showing up and “snapping photos,” “getting gorgeous portraits,"“nailing the candid moments.” It is so, SO much more than that! The first thing you should look for once you’ve nailed down a few options for wedding photographers is exactly who the eff is this person/people?!
You’ve probably been dreaming about this day for quite some time now and possibly even traveled all the way to Satellite Beach, Fl for your wedding, so you NEED to be surrounded by vendors that you know, for an absolute fact, are only going to elevate your mood.
A wedding photographer that is like you.
A wedding photographer that you know you will laugh and smile with.
A wedding photographer that make you feel comfortable and confident. Because you and your boo did not dress allll the way up for this day to be humble and not be showered in all the compliments. Bet you anything you really DO look better than J.Lo and Ben Affleck. Facts.
A wedding photographer that helps make getting all these gorgeous and amazing photographs feel easy. (This last one is absolutely us, btdubs)
You guys, I can not stress this enough… you don’t want to show up on your wedding day, having hired the first person you could, just to find out that person embodies the exact opposite things you do. Someone that for all your excitement (and let’s be honest maybe some anxiousness,) they seem like it’s just another job. You might not even notice it, it might be subconscious, but you will begin to feel stress. You do not need that on this, one of the most important days of your lives. How all your vendors make you feel is super, super important. Your spidey senses will not steer you wrong!
When people inquire with us to be their wedding photographers the most important thing to us is at least getting them on the phone. Zoom or person is even better. As professionals we genuinely want you to have exactly the people you need- even if it’s not us! That’s ok.
ENERGY MATTERS. The people you surround yourself with matters. KNOWING YOU CAN TRUST THOSE PEOPLE really fucking matters!! Liking them beyond if they can capture wedding photos is going to matter. There is a lot of communication before and after your wedding. You’re going to be interacting with these people a lot, that’s just how it is with wedding vendors. Do you want to interact with these people a lot???
And if you choose vendors with the same energy as yours, that means your vendors are more likely to be similar and work well together also= MAJOR, MAJOR PLUS for all parties involved! I can’t tell you how ecstatic we get when we get to work with people we love like Harbour House, Space Coast Weddings and NPI Productions.
Harry and I are high energy, severely positive, where there’s a will there’s a way, super outgoing, freaking love to have a good time (we drink shots at our tiki bar at home and if appropriate will get down on the dancefloor with you at your wedding,) easy to be around, are on top of our communication skills (we are FAST to respond,) put extreme emphasis on getting the job done while making sure everyone is having a good time, and want our couples to KNOW that our pom poms are coming with us to their wedding. Which isn’t for everyone. Someone who prefers quiet and doesn’t like to go out probably doesn’t want all that. And that is ok!
Are your wedding photographers properly equipped to capture your Satellite Beach, Fl wedding?
I’m not talking about if their wedding photography is pretty or not. What this means is do they have plan B and C in place should something go wrong on their end? This means…(and PLEASE ask whoever you choose these questions!)
Do they have back-up camera bodies should theirs fail?
Do they have back-up lenses should one fall and break or just malfunction?
Do they have back-up SD cards AND hard drives should one either fail or become full? (It’s important the images are stored safely until delivered. This means are they able to store the wedding photos once off of their camera in multiple safe places?!)
Do they have proper lighting equipment??? *This is a big one to me because it doesn’t matter what camera or lens it is, once it gets dark cameras have a hard time “seeing.” Proper on-camera and/or off-camera flashes are a must for any wedding photographer that’s a true professional.
Do they have multiple batteries and are bringing chargers to maintain equipment throughout your night?
Do they have insurance?
Do they have back-ups that they trust in case something happens and they can’t actually make it to your wedding?
These are all important questions to be considered when choosing who is going to be the best bet for your wedding photography coverage. This day is SO IMPORTANT! Right?! You want a wedding photographer that you know for an absolute fact you can trust to cover it safely.
What Style of Wedding Photography and Editing is Important to You for Your Wedding in Satellite Beach, Fl?
Sometimes people don’t realize that we wedding photographers come in all shapes and sizes, so to speak. There’s a multitude of editing styles and each professional wedding photographer has a specific style that they’ve come to edit in. When you see their work you are seeing how your photos ARE going to look. Also editing styles can sometimes trend and newer photographers (and possibly established ones but less likely) might be “trying out” some of these styles because they haven’t quite figured out how they want to edit.
When you receive your gallery do you want photos that are:
Light and airy?
Dark and moody?
Cinematic looking?
Romantic feels?
True to color?
Warm? (Think golden hour sunlight hues)
Cool? (With bluer tone?)
Or a combination of the above? (I personally like to edit true to color with a tad of warmth.) These styles can go on forever… What’s important is that you choose a photographer with the editing style you like best AND that will withstand the test of time. Some styles are very unique and cool, but like a bad tattoo you may regret choosing it 10, 20, 30 years from now for your wedding gallery.
Those three categories are my most important pieces of advice.
1) Does their energy match yours
2) Are they fully equipped in case curve balls get thrown?
3) Is their style one that you will be happy to relive your wedding through?
Of course there’s still more to be considered, but of all the things those are what we always make sure and communicate to any bride or groom that reaches out.
And that’s that! Hopefully this information helps in your search for the best Satellite Beach, Fl wedding photographer possible for you!
Cheers, all the love and maybe we’ll see you down on the sands!! ;)
